SUBNAUTICA AMPEEL PATTERN

Subnautica, what a fantastic game! I picked it up as soon as it came out of early access and fell in love with the beautiful fauna and flora. I decided to try and crochet all of the fauna eventually, and safe to say I feel like I made a good dent in the list! Kicking off the Subnautica fauna patterns, let's start with a basic Ampeel.
These guys work up quite quickly but do require a lot of sewing, so if you need to practice your amigurumi sewing skills - this pattern is for you!

Assembly
You
may want to pin the entire plush together before you sew, this is what I did
for the Ampeel but it’s entirely up to you.
Pin
the 16 Spines all down the body, you should be able to see ‘sections’ of the
body where there was a block of sc rounds.
Please
see the picture to reference – I’ve pinned out the sections.

You
need 2 spines on top of each section and 2 underneath, again – please see the
pictures below for placement referencing.
When
these are in place, sew.
Don’t
forget to pin and sew the Chin spines on!

When
all these spines are sewn on securely, time to move onto the eyes.
I
needle felted mine - but felt or crochet eyes are a great substitute!
You
need a base of bright green (neon if possible), a small blue iris and an even
smaller black pupil. If you're going to crochet the eyes create the base with a magic ring, then embroider the pupil and iris, use embroidery thread if you'd like.
Then that’s it!
You’re done!
Enjoy your new tamed Ampeel!
Just be careful not to get shocked....
