About me.

I started my crochet journey back in 2015 when I was working part time in education, which meant I got the summer holidays! 

I decided to teach myself a new skill over the summer, and that was how to crochet (thank you YouTube!). In 2017 I set up my Etsy shop selling crochet patterns and products, but I’ve since made the decision to take a new route and offer my patterns and designs for free to try and make the world a craftier place, one crochet pattern at a time.

 My biggest influence and motivator for this journey would fall on my Grandpa. When he learned that I’d taken up crocheting he would always ask what I was making next and wanted to see it when it was finished. He’d spent ages looking over each item I made very thoroughly and always smile and say “being creative runs in your blood!”.

As he pushed into his 90’s his health started to slowly decline, breaking his hip and having a stroke within the next 2 years. I visited him as often as I could and still bought my crocheting along with me to show him what I was working on, and natter away to him while I worked my hook like crazy.

As the summer of 2022 slowly pushed a warm spring behind it, Grandpa’s health started to get worse and worse. He knew what was happening. I told him I wanted to set up my own website offering free crochet patterns and tutorials and he was so supportive having ran his own business in his adulthood. He gave me a crash course on what I needed to do, and made me promise him to stick to it. 

One of the things that will stay with me forever is when he said to me on the 20th of July 2022 - “You’ll make it fly, no doubt.”

He passed away peacefully at home on the 18th of August 2022 aged 95.

This is for you Grandpa. I’ll make it fly, I promise.
